6 Memorable Concerts from Last Month
The first half of June has flown by. Just like the number of concerts and festivals. To give you a glimpse into what concerts have been going on, here are 6 performances that have caused some publicity. Have you been at one of them?
6. Deadmau5 - 13 June - 013 Tilburg
DJ and producer Deadmau5, a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman, gave a concert at 013 in Tilburg on 13 June. This can be described as exceptional as the Canadian rarely performs in the Netherlands. Besides London and Paris, he could also be admired on Brabant territory with his 'Club V3' show. The talented duo French Original also joined in. They have already made remixes for Meduza, The Neptunes and Deadmau5 himself. During the evening, they brought insane new material in the form of a fantastic show. Will they grow as fast as deadmau5's 15 million-strong fanbase?
5. Alanis Morissette - 12 June - ZiggoDome Amsterdam
‘’A successful evening''. That is how fans describe the concert by Canadian Alanis Morissette. With a pure voice that does not miss a beat, she managed to win over the audience. Powerful, yet homely. A star at the top of the game.
4. Anouk - 11 June - Malieveld The Hague
It cannot have escaped you, the concert of Anouk including her wedding with Dominique Schemmekes. An hour and a half after the opening of her concert, the stage was cleared for a big bow of white roses. The two pronounced each other's vows and gave each other the 'yes' under the watchful eye of about 40,000 people.
3. Elton John - 9 June - Gelredome Arnhem
On 9 June, Elton John performed his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour' at the Arnhem Gelredome. The almost 35,000 visitors had a last chance to say goodbye to the retiring Brit. In a show full of glitter, he sang his greatest hits combined with comical images of British icons in the background. And as only Elton John can, he waved goodbye to his audience with dignity and then left the stage in a lift. All we can say is: Thank You Sir!
2. Lorde – 8 June – AFAS Live Amsterdam
Lorde, or Ella Marija Lani Yelich- O'Connor, travels the world from New Zealand with her Solar Power tour. On 8 June, it was Amsterdam's turn to provide them with some solar power. And that was clearly noticeable. She proves beyond doubt that taking a break is good for you. Four years of taking a break and soaking up the sun has done Lorde good. Welcome back Lorde!
1. My Chemical Romance – 2 June – AHOY Rotterdam
It has been no less than eleven years since My Chemical Romance last visited the Netherlands. After some successes, separation and yet another reunion, here finally was the reunion show. Although they have not changed much in the eyes of the audience, they knew like no other how to create a 'all of us against the world' feeling. They were well on their way to becoming legendary but, as the audience called them, they still dropped stitches.
