5 Amazing concerts that DID happen in 2020
Let’s just not talk about Covid for once (well, we just did, but anyway). Believe it or not, but there were concerts and even festivals in 2020.
The start of 2020 was so promising, Gigit users in over 10 countries enjoyed concerts by 794 different artists in 620 different venues. From Nick Cave to Stormzy and from Alanis Morissette to The Murder Capital.… oh and did we mention Sabaton? Twentytwenty was going to be awesome…
[something happened…just don’t mention it]
Check out these 5 concerts that actually DID happen and that our Gigit community loved.
Did you go to any gigs this year? We’d love to hear your stories!
5. Editors
Where?
Antwerp, London, Manchester, Dusseldorf, Milan, Rome, Paris, Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin.
“Hits only”
After releasing the “Best of” album Black Gold, Tom Smith and his Editors had just hit the road to blow Europe away with their Black Gold Tour. Fans in some European countries were some of the lucky ones that had the opportunity to go and see their favourite band before the tour got cancelled.
“The best of the best band”, “Loved it, again!”, “Unrivalled”
4. Slipknot
Where?
Amsterdam, Munich, Berlin, London, Paris, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Zurich.
“Monstrous”
Who would have thought that Slipknot was going to stay around for 25 years? Wasn’t it “just a metal-gimmick”? Clearly not! The band reinvented themselves multiple times. Now, after 9 albums and 7 band member changes, it’s safe to say that Slipknot is here to stay. Especially live, a phenomenon!
“Great party”, “Soaked in sweat”, “Amazing show”
3. Balthazar
Where?
Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Nijmegen, Leuven, Paris, Bologna, Warsaw, Berlin, Zurich, Cairo, Copenhagen, Graz, Munich.
“Love our boys”
Although the guys from Balthazar play gigs around the world, there is no place like home. Belgium loves Balthazar, and rightly so. Even when you go to a Balthazar gig abroad, you’ll probably find some Belgian fans in the audience.
“DAMN Amazing”, “What a show”, “Perfection”, “Magical”
2. Cage the Elephant
Where?
Utrecht, Tilburg, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Paris.
“Absolutely nuts”
If 2020 was a person, it would be frontman Matt Shultz from Cage the Elephant: Absolutely nuts, all over the place, and weirdly intriguing. The only big difference? You don’t want Matt to stop.
“Brilliant frontman”, “Phenomenal”, “Unforgettably weird”, “Matt rules!”
1. Liam Gallagher
Where?
Amsterdam, Brussels, Cologne, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, Rome.
“British party”
Belgian Balthazar fans are not the only ones who follow their favourite artist to other countries. British music lovers like to take over foreign music venues too; Celebrate Britpop and one of it’s legendary icons, Liam Gallagher. A feel-good-singalong party that we can only dream of at the moment. But don’t look back in anger. Look back on amazing concert memories, and keep the faith. One day we’ll be back, singing, dancing, drinking, loving live music!
“Biblical”, “Rock ‘n Roll Star“, “My all-time hero”
