5 iconic Grasnapolsky acts

Grasnapolsky is a festival based in Scheemda, Groningen. It is dedicated to a weekend of music, art and expeditions in a special location.

In 2020, Grasnapolsky was the last festival before Covid and this year the first festival after Covid. Time to highlight some of the gems of the past editions. Take a look at these 5 iconic Grasnapolsky acts!

5. Personal Trainer

Personal Trainer is an alternative rock band from Amsterdam and a solo project by Willem Smit. Composed of a changing group of musicians from various Dutch indie bands, you could have a complete line-up if you added them all together. Typical for the atmosphere is that it feels like they recorded the music one day ago in a garage, purely "because they can" and because it is so much fun.

During Grasnapolsky 2019, the front man ran around the stage like a mad dog, tongue out of his mouth, accompanied by a torrent of screaming guitars. Because of this, Personal Trainer certainly deserves a spot among the iconic acts at Grasnapolsky.

4. De Likt

De Likt is a rap-electro act from Rotterdam who mainly generated fame with the song 'Ja dat bedoel ik.' During Grasnapolsky 2017 they presented their latest music. Not music to dance sensually to, but to pound away at it with an 'anything goes' mentality. The temperature in the ice-cold igloo tent in which the Rotterdammers played actually rose as recovered frontman Jordy Dijkshoorn read from his own work louder than ever. The first crowdsurf, mosh pit and sit down? Check, check, double check.

3. Goldband

Goldband can be described as ‘the ultimate escapism’. A mix of Dutch pop, romance and euphoria. During Grasnapolsky 2020 this group from The Hague managed to put down a dynamic act. Their show is accompanied by an enormous amount of energy, lots of jumping up and down and here and there a rehearsed dance. The beats are not too complicated and energetic. Exactly as you can expect from House music. Perfect for singing along while jumping up and down.

2. Shht

Shht is one of the biggest Belgian promises. During Grasnapolsky 2018, this five-piece band was the most deranged band of the festival. Besides the fact that their digital autotune hard rock arrives right in your face, frontman Michiel Renson doesn't make it easy for the audience. One moment he asks everyone to come closer, then he wants to catch a group of people in the microphone cable, there are two band members wrestling in the audience and a few seconds later he wants everyone to come close again. It is certainly not boring with this quintet.

1. Froukje

The 20-year-old Froukje was shining on the stage of Grasnapolsky in 2020. And rightly so! With her debut single 'Groter dan ik' she sings about the powerlessness of the individual in the face of the problems of climate change. The rest of her repertoire surprises the audience with its catchy and disarming beats. The songs are simple, but poignant. A very strong decision by the organization to say her on the lineup!
