5. Placebo

When? August 8

Despite the now 50-year-old frontman Brian Molko causing a lot of fuss not long ago by calling the Italian prime minister a racist, fascist and a piece of shit, he seemed to be in better spirits here in the Netherlands.

From front to back and left to right, all listened intently after the request was made to keep all mobile phones in their pockets as it should be with the exception of one photo...

4. Boygenius

Where? Pukkelpop

When? August 18

.The three talented female singer-songwriters certainly lived up to their reputation as a supergroup at Pukkelpop. This was soon evident when the trio took the stage with Thin Lizzy's hit 'The boys are back in town' as their intro. Hahaha!

Then the greats put on a fantastic show, after which they decided to roll around the stage with bare torso as a closing act. Statement! I think...?

Anyway, it was certainly a unique experience!

3. The Haunted Youth

Where? Suikerrock Festival

When? August 5

The days when people looked strangely if you listed The Haunted Youth among the best Belgian rock bands are long gone. The visitors of Suikerrock and many other festivals this summer became more than aware of that. Not only because of hits like 'Teen Rebel', 'Coming Home' and 'Broken', but also because of the incredible guitar solos that could be felt from head to toe.

2. Franz Ferdinand

Where? Suikerrock Festival

When? August 5

Like Haunted Youth, Franz Ferdinand also left a good impression on you at Suikerrock this year. Even with the pouring rain and the absence of his most recent hit in the set list.... The sitdown at closing track 'This Fire' must have been fantastic to still secure this fine second spot in your gig of the month!
