5 Surprise Guests at Concerts
Sometimes fans just get more than their money's worth when multiple superstars team up on stage. But who were, in our opinion, the best special guests in recent years? We have listed them briefly!
5. U2 ft. Bruce Springsteen at Madison Square Garden
Visitors were pleasantly surprised when Bruce Springsteen appeared to sing along to the songs "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and the Ben E. King cover "Stand By Me." Bono hinted at it throughout the show when he incorporated some lines from Springsteen's "Hungry Heart" into his own "Beautiful Day."
Before being introduced, Bono told the audience that Bruce was, “Someone to give us a reason to be a band, gave a reason to continue to be a band and someone who gave us a level we could never reach but always aspire to.”.
It was not the first time that the Irish rock band was accompanied by Bruce, as they had already shared the stage three times before.
4. Rihanna ft. Eminem at Staples Center
We all know that Rihanna is perfectly capable of putting on a spectacular show on her own, to say the least. But when the fans saw Eminem hit the stage to perform their hit song ‘Love The Way You Lie’, the 20,000 strong crowd at The Staples Center in Los Angeles completely lost it!
3. Roger Waters ft. David Gilmour at O2 Arena
In 2011, David Gilmour finally fulfilled his promise he made the year before. During a highly anticipated show, the British rock star appeared on the very top of the brick wall during Roger Waters’ show. The show included a new version of 'The Wall' by Roger and a signature solo by David. It was a stunning show to say the least!
Even watching the video gives us goosebumps!
2. Muse ft. The Edge at Glastonbury
It was a big disappointment for many when U2 pulled out of Glastonbury 2010. Yet one of the band members was on stage: guitarist The Edge makes a guest appearance during the concert of Muse, one of the other headliners. To make up for the loss of U2, Muse covers a classic track: Where The Streets Have No Name.
Covering a song is just easier with the help of the original artist I guess!
1. Foo Fighters ft. Queen at Hyde Park
Up to 85,000 people descended on Hyde Park for the band’s biggest ever UK show. However, the audience was taken by surprise when drummer Taylor Hawkins started singing Freddy Mercury’s famous 'A-ho' intro.
“I’m gonna dedicate this song to Freddie Mercury. This one is for you my friend. I know you’re up there. Unfortunately I gotta sing it.”
Queen legends Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared along with Foo Fighter's own Dave Grohl to perform "We Will Rock You" and "Tie Your Mother Down". It was going to be an 85-minute hit-loaded show that we can only dream of being there!
